Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

The short version

Sushare collects no personal data on any server. The only information stored is the display name you choose, saved locally on your device and never transmitted anywhere outside your table session.

1. About this Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the Sushare mobile application ("App", "we", "us") handles information related to you. By using Sushare you agree to the practices described here.

Sushare is a local-first application. It does not have user accounts, cloud storage, or any backend server. All data lives exclusively on the devices of you and the other people at your table.

2. Information We Collect

Sushare asks for a first name, last name, and a username during the initial setup. This information is:

  • Stored only on your device using the device's local database.
  • Never uploaded to any server, cloud service, or third party.
  • Shared transiently with other users at your table only while a session is active, so they can see who is participating in the shared order.
  • Deleted from other participants' devices as soon as the session ends; it is never persisted outside your own device.

We do not collect:

  • Email addresses or phone numbers
  • Location data (GPS coordinates)
  • Device identifiers or advertising IDs
  • Usage analytics or crash reports sent to external services
  • Payment or financial information of any kind

3. Camera Access

The App requests access to your device's camera solely to scan QR codes that allow you to join an existing table session created by another person.

The camera is never used to:

  • Capture, store, or transmit photos or videos
  • Perform facial recognition or biometric analysis
  • Collect any information about you or your surroundings

Camera access is only activated when you explicitly open the QR scanner screen within the App. You can deny camera permission at any time in your device settings; you can still join sessions by entering the session code manually.

4. Bluetooth Access

The App uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to:

  • Allow the session host to advertise a table session to nearby participants.
  • Allow guests to discover and connect to the host's session on the same table.
  • Synchronise order data in real time between connected devices at the table.

Bluetooth is never used to:

  • Track your location or movements
  • Collect information about nearby devices beyond confirming a session connection
  • Transmit data to any external server or third-party service

All Bluetooth communication happens directly between devices at your table. The connection is established only with your explicit action (tapping "Join" or "Create session") and ends when you leave the session.

5. Data Storage

All data — including your display name, restaurant menus you have saved, and past session records — is stored locally on your device using a standard SQLite database. This data:

  • Is accessible only to the Sushare App on your device.
  • Is removed when you uninstall the App.
  • Is never backed up to external cloud services by Sushare (standard OS backup services may back up app data according to their own policies).

6. Third-Party Services

Sushare does not integrate analytics SDKs, advertising networks, social login providers, or any other third-party data-collection service. The only external network request the App may make is to the AI menu-scanning feature (if you have provided an API key in settings), using your own API key and subject to the privacy policy of that AI service provider.

7. Children's Privacy

Sushare does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. Because the App stores no personal data on any server, there is no meaningful risk of children's data being retained or processed externally.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.

9. Contact

If you have questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy, please reach out via the project repository or the contact information provided on the App Store / Google Play listing.
